Plastic coatings are a large and growing market which include automotive interior and exterior, resilient flooring and stamping foils, plastic signs and sheeting, office equipment, sporting goods, consumer electronics, packaging...Plastics are coated to provide specific appearance (such as softer touch, leather like feeling) and protection to the substrate.

Depending of the end-use applications, different desired properties can be obtained such as weatherability, abrasion, chemical, mar resistance, mechanical stability to respond to changes in temperature for exterior and interior applications.

The main challenge to coat plastic substrate is to choose the right resin in order to obtain the perfect adhesion to the substrate. Plastic substrates are thermosets or thermoplastics which require adhesion promoters or even pretreatment before being coated.
