Nanotechnology is rapidly gaining recognition as having the potential to provide significant benefits for the coatings industry. The most publicized benefits include scratch resistance, UV protection and weathering protection. Nanoscale materials can be used in solvent and water-based coatings as well as UV coatings and powder coatings. Sales of nanocoatings have been projected to exceed USD 11 bn by 2016. In June, we asked our members to share their experience with nanotechnology. The question we asked was: Which of the following performances do you think will truly benefit from nano-resins & nano-additives?
