Intercide ABF-5-butanediol is a 5% solution of OBPA in 1,4-butanediol and is offered specially for use by the polyuretahne industary.It is known that flexible polyurethane foam can be attacked by micro-organism,specially fungi which use ingredients within the foam formulation as a carbon source.The result of fungal attack can be discoloration,bad odour,tackiness etc. all of which affect the appearance and reduce the service life of the article.The application where the products are most susceptible are those which are exposed to enviornment which support the growth of micro-organism. The use of butanediol as a carrier solvent for OBPA enables the active ingeredients to be incorporated into the polyurethane foam at the reaction stage. The suggested addition level should be 0.6 -1.0% by weight of total formulation dependent on application.
