Its limited solubility in aliphatic ink oils and vegetable oils makes it a good choice for fast setting sheet fed and quick set inks. It possesses high softening point, excellent gel reactivity, limited compatability with mineral oils and vegetable oils, excellent block and rub resistance vs.hydrocarbon hybrids with similar rheology, provides strong gel formation allowing use of economical maleic or hydrocarbon co-resins in low cost heatset formulations, provides fast setting times, build viscosity through incompatibility with mineral oils. It is used in quickset and varnishes and inks, let-down vehicles for heatset, web offset inks. Phenolic modified rosin ester. Used in fast setting sheet fed and quick set inks.
