There is not always sufficient compatibility with polyester resins containing hydroxy groups. Results from weathering trials of many years have shown better retention of gloss in most cases in comparison to polyisocyanates based on hexamethylene diisocyanate biurets (Basonat HB 100 and HB 175 MP/X). When using Basonat HI 290 B or Basonat HI 100 instead of Basonat HB 100 or Basonat HB 175 MP/X, due to the formers’ higher viscosity the non-volatile fraction in paints can be raised. Polyfunctional polyisocyanate based on an isocyanurate of hexamethylene diisocyanate solution in n-butyl acetate. Used for lightfast and weather-resistant polyurethane finishes such as top coats. Can be used for crosslinking most hydroxy acrylic resins. Offers good retention of gloss.
