Basonat TU 75 E Aromatic polyisocyanate BASF Polyurethane (PU) - Isocyanates ethyl acetate Dilutable in ethyl acetate, butyl acetate and butyl glycol acetate Insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons Polyfunctional aromatic isocyanate for two-pack polyurethane primers and top coats Polyfunctional toluylene diisocyanate adduct, approx. 75 % solution in ethyl acetate Basonat TU 75 E is suitable for crosslinking most hydroxy acrylic resins such as the Macrynal ®1 SM grades, hydroxy polyester resins and other compounds containing hydroxyl groups such as silicone resins, castor oil, epoxy resins and phenol-formaldehyde resins. Except for difficult substrates such as aluminium or galvanised iron, Basonat TU 75 E is used for formulating primers. Lightfastness is mostly insufficient in top coats due to the adduct’s tendency of yellowing. For weather-resistant top coats, often combinations of aliphatic polyisocyanates such as Basonat HB 175 MP/X with Basonat TU 75 E are used. Solution of a polyfunctional toluylene diisocyanate adduct in ethyl acetate. Used for two-pack polyurethane primers and top coats. Can be used for crosslinking most hydroxy acrylic resins, hydroxy polyester resins and other compounds containing hydroxyl groups such as silicone resins, castor oil, epoxy resins and phenol-formaldehyde resins. Does not suit for difficult substrates such as aluminium or galvanised iron. Can be used in combination with aliphatic polyisocyanates to formulate weather-resistant top coats.
