It is used in exterior wall paints, gloss and semi-gloss paints, plastic coatings, wood/ parquet varnishes and furniture coatings and pigment concentrates. Silicone defoamer for aqueous coatings based on PU-dispersions and PU/Acrylic combinations. The defoamer is very effective during the production and application of aqueous coatings, it does not influence color acceptance and gloss. Due to its high activity, BYK®-019 has to be incorporated under high shear forces to avoid cratering. The defoamer demonstrates excellent long term stability. To reduce microfoam, a combination of BYK®-019 with BYK®-024 in a ratio of 3:2 has shown excellent results. BYK®-019 is also suitable to defoam aqueous pigment concentrates.
