Silicone defoamer to prevent foam and bubble formation arising during paint production and application in non-poaler to high polar solvent-based systems. BYK®-077 improves the surface properties of coatings, with particular emphasis upon levelling, increases surface slip and thus improves scratch and mar resistance. Formation of Bénard cells is prevented and orientation of flatting agents is improved. BYK®-077 does not cause dewetting or defects in intercoat adhesion when recoated. This additive is also available in a solvent-free version as BYK®-085. Solution of a methylalkylpolysiloxane. Used in coatings. Prevents foam and bubble formation. Provides improved levelling. Offers increased surface slip. Possesses improved scratch and mar resistance.
