Properties Borchi® Gen DFN possesses good pigment wetting and anti-floating properties. This property is used in the manufacture of colored glossy paints for interior and exterior applications. Borchi® Gen DFN is also used for preparing paints from full-strength inorganic and organic pigments. In all such systems it improves compatibility between binder and pigment, intensifies the color of milled material and facilitates subsequent mixing. Shelf-life is also improved. Applications Borchi® Gen DFN is suitable for air-drying and baking emulsion paints and lacquers. Its main areas of application are pure acrylic, styrene-acrylic and styrene butadiene dispersions. Borchi® Gen DFN is compatible excellently in CAB and NC containing systems. Mixing and addition rate In order to derive full benefit from the properties of Borchi® Gen DFN, particularly in dispersions with a large tendency towards floating, it should be added to the mill base. Subsequent addition is also possible to further improve of pigment dispersion and color intensity. Addition rates vary between 0.1 and 3%, relative to total dispersion volume. Borchi® Gen DFN is active regardless of pH. At the usual addition rates, the water resistance of emulsion paints remains unimpaired.
