Properties Borchi® Gen NA 40 is a wetting agent with preferential action in inorganic pigments and fillers and permits the production of highly concentrated and stable water-based pigment pastes. In water-borne paint systems, pigments and fillers are wetted very rapidly during dispersion, thereby significantly shortening the milling process and improving pigment utilisation, depth of color and hiding power. Other properties of the paint are not adversely affected by addition of Borchi® Gen NA 40. Borchi® Gen NA 40 is suitable for the synthesis of highly concentrated pastes from micronized inorganic pigments and for use as a dispersing agent in the manufacture of industrial paints and emulsion paints. Applications Borchi® Gen NA 40 can be used in all water-borne paint systems. lt is particularly suitable for systems containing inorganic pigments and fillers. Mixing and addition rate Borchi® Gen NA 40 is incorporated with the mill base or using a high-speed mixer. lt may also be added subsequently to improve pigrrent dispersion and to intensify color. Addition rates are highly dependent on the chemical nature of the pigment and its particle size distribution. Addition rates of 0.3 to 2.0% by weight Borchi® Gen NA 40 relative to pigment content can be recommended from experience. For the production of highly concentrated, stable pastes with optimum pigment dispersion, approximately 1 - 3% by weight relative to pigment content is required.
