Borchi Nox VP 0131 Trial Product Special combination of organic compounds Bayer-Börchers Antiskinning agent Alkyd Resins Epoxy Resins Polyester Borchi® Nox VP 0131 (Trial Product) 13 Anti-skinning agent for oxidatively drying coating systems Description Borchi® Nox VP 0131 is a new anti-skinning agent for colorless and pigmented coating systems based on alkyd resins, epoxy esters and other oxidatively drying binders. It contains a special combination of organic compounds with an high anti-oxidative and complexing potential respectively in a preparation optimized to be used as anti-skinning agent. Borchi® Nox VP 0131 is free of phenolic and oximic ingredients and should be a substitution for those products. Properties Preventing undesired skin-formation on paints during storage Borchi® Nox VP 0131 improves the storage stability of oxidatively drying coating systems. In the applied film, it provides a controlled retardation of surface drying comparable to common oximic antioxidants. Becaues of its limited volatility Borchi® Nox VP 0131 keeps the film open to ensure penetration of oxygen to lower film layers. Hence Borchi® Nox VP 0131 promotes through dry and also improves flow properties. Due to its chemical basis the specific disadvantages of other antioxidants - such as the strong drying retardation of phenolics or the toxicologic potential of oximic compounds - could be avoided. Applications Borchi® Nox VP 0131 is suitable for all solvent borne and solvent free coatings. It might be used in clear coats and in pigmented systems. Mixing and Addition Rate Borchi® Nox VP 0131 can be added to the paint in any formulation step. A preliminary dilution with water or any organic solvent is not suggested. We recommend its addition in a final production step after adding the siccatives to the formulation. The required amount of Borchi® Nox VP 0131 depends on type and quantity of the used driers. Usual amounts are approx. 0,3 to 0,6 % by weight in clear coats and 0,4 to 0,8 % in pigmented lacquers respectively. In case of substitution of Butanonoxime it is recommended to use twice the amount of the substituted Butanonoxime due to the higher molecular weight of Borchi® Nox VP 0131. Thereupon a further optimization may be necessary. Anti-skinning agent for colorless and pigmented coating systems based on alkyd resins, epoxy esters and other oxidatively drying binders.
