Nanogel IR Opacified Aerogel Beads Amorphous silica Cabot Rheology Modifier/ Thickener >> Colloidal silicas Coatings Nanogel® Aerogel IR Opacified Beads are pale brown, free flowing, spherical particles. The size distribution of beads is narrow and centered around 1mm. The beads additionally contain fine particles of titanium dioxide, which make them attractive in insulation applications when radiative heat transfer has to be minimized. The pore volume exceeds 90%. It is this high porosity, in conjunction with the associated fine structure of aerogel and the presence of titanium dioxide additive that insures exceptional thermal performance in a variety of applications. The nanoporous structure of the aerogels hinders the transfer of heat by reducing the collision frequency of the gas phase molecules. The skeleton of the aerogel is made of amorphous silica. Opacifiers such as titanium dioxide (rutile) or carbon black can be incorporated into the areogel production process to reduce radiative heat transfer in applications. Brown, free flowing, spherical hydrophobic silica. Used in surface coating application as an anti-settling and anti-sag additive, defoamer, gloss reducing agent, reinforcing additive, rheological control additive, thickening agent, thixotrope and water repellancy additive. Offers high porosity. Provides very good thermal performance.
