Irgacor 252 LD 1-(Benzothiazol-2-ylthio) succinic acid 95154-01-1 Ciba Corrosion inhibitor >> Long-Term Corrosion Protection Acrylic/Acrylate Resins Alkyd Resins Amino Resins Epoxy Resins Polyester Coatings >> Solventborne Marine /Anti-Corrosive / Protective IRGACOR 252 LD is an organic corrosion inhibitor developed for protective coatings on metal surfaces. The low dust product form is specifically designed for use in solvent-borne applications to provide long term corrosion protection. For water borne systems, IRGACOR 252 FC is recommended. $SSOLFDWLRQ IRGACOR 252 LD is recommended for applications such as: Air drying primers based on: · alkyd resins (addition of basic fillers is of advantage). · epoxy resins combinations (i.e. epoxy PVB wash primers) · acrylates Thermosetting primers based on: · polyester and acrylic melamine resins Additional Formulation Recommendations IRGACOR 252 LD may be incorporated into the coating formulation by: · replacing anticorrosive pigments with extender/inactive pigments (giving consideration for oil absorption and specific density in order to adjust the PVC/CPVC* to the original level) · pre-dissolving it in a suitable solvent or by grinding it into the mill base IRGACOR 252 LD is effective as the sole corrosion inhibitor. However, its use in combination with common anticorrosive pigments is also possible. Combination with pigments such as e.g. Ca exchanged silica (Shieldexâ1) has shown excellent performance on various metallic substrates such as steel, galvanized steel and aluminum. *PVC : Pigment Volume Concentration *CPVC : Critical Pigment Volume Concentration 1Trade mark of W.R. The low dust product form is specifically designed for use in solvent-borne applications to provide long term corrosion protection. Recommended for air drying primers based on alkyd resins (addition of basic fillers is of advantage), epoxy resins combinations (i.e. epoxy PVB wash primers), acrylates and for thermosetting primers based on polyester and acrylic melamine resins. May be incorporated into the coating formulation by replacing anticorrosive pigments with extender/inactive pigments (giving consideration for oil absorption and specific density in order to adjust the PVC/CPVC* to the original level), pre-dissolving it in a suitable solvent or by grinding it into the mill base effective as the sole corrosion inhibitor. Effective as the sole corrosion inhibitor but can also be used in combination with common anticorrosive pigments. Combination with pigments such as e.g. Ca exchanged silica (Shieldexâ1) has shown excellent performance on various metallic substrates such as steel, galvanized steel and aluminum. Recommended usage level: 1.0-3.0% of the total solids.
