Irgacure 1000 2-Hydroxy-2-methyl-1-phenyl-propan-1-one; 1-Hydroxy-cyclohexyl-phenyl-ketone 7473-98-5; 947-19-3 Ciba Photoinitiator Acrylic/Acrylate Resins Polyurethane Coatings >> UV / Radiation Curing *HQHUDO IRGACURE 1000 is a highly efficient non-yellowing liquid photoinitiator which is used to initiate radical photopolymerisation of unsaturated resins such as those based on a prepolymer - e.g. acrylates - in combination with mono- or multifunctional monomers. IRGACURE 1000 is a highly efficient liquid photoinitiator developed for UV curing where ‘Xi’ labeling is not acceptable. After adequate testing IRGACURE 1000 may be used in applications such as coatings, inks and adhesives. In particular IRGACURE 1000 is especially suited to clear formulations due to excellent non-yellowing characteristics. Due to its liquid form IRGACURE 1000 is especially easy to incorporate into UV systems and its excellent solvency properties mean IRGACURE 1000 can be used as a solvent for other photoinitiators. IRGACURE 1000 can also act as a diluent for viscosity reduction of UV formulations. Yellowing of urethane based systems may be further reduced by adding Ciba’ hindered amine light stabilizer TINUVIN ® 292. Since the performance of a photoinitiator depends to a great extent on the specific formulation, the optimum price/performance level should be determined by experimental trials. Mixture of 80 % 2-hydroxy-2-methyl-1-phenyl-propan-1-one (DAROCUR ® 1173) and 20 % 1-hydroxy-cyclohexyl-phenyl-ketone (IRGACURE ® 184). Highly efficient non-yellowing liquid photoinitiator which is used to initiate radical photopolymerisation of unsaturated resins such as those based on a prepolymer - e.g. acrylates - in combination with mono- or multifunctional monomers. Developed for UV curing where ‘Xi’ labeling is not acceptable. Suited to clear formulations due to excellent non-yellowing characteristics. Miscibility in most customary organic solvents as well as most acrylate based monomers is exceeding 50g/100g solution; practically insoluble in water. Easy to incorporate into UV systems and its excellent solvency properties mean it can be used as a solvent for other photoinitiators. Can also act as a diluent for viscosity reduction of UV formulations. Recommended usage level: 1.0-3.0% for a 20-200 µm film thickness; 2.0-4.0% for a 5-20 µm film thickness.
