IRGAGUARD B 7520 is an inorganic Silver Glass based antimicrobial inhibiting the growth of Grampositive, Gram-negative bacteria, mold and yeast. The product can be processed at temperatures > 500 oC. Special Glass design allow for controlled Silver-ion release. The bioavailability of silver-ions is critical to the antimicrobial efficacy. The specific porous glass structure determines the bioavailability of the Silver-ions. IRGAGUARD B 7520 has been optimized for PP fiber applications. Key areas of applications are air conditioning, filter, fabrics, sanitary accessories (i.e. brushes), hospital supplies and others. IRGAGUARD B 7520 prevents growth of bacteria, mold and yeast on plastic surfaces. Therefore it provides odor control, hygiene maintenance and the possibility for product differentiation. The combination of low migration rates and high melting point makes it especially suitable for high processing and use temperatures as well as for thin layers. It gives durable efficacy even with thin plastic articles. IRGAGUARD B 7520 has been optimized with respect to color retention under sun light exposure as compared to standard Silver-based antimicrobials, which can show discoloration. The pellet form combines low dust content with excellent fluidity. These pellets are highly resistant to attrition; offer a narrow particle size distribution and good industrial hygiene.
