Tinuvin 99-2 Benzenepropanoic acid, 1-methoxy-2-propyl acetate ( 127519-17-9, 108-65-6 Ciba Light stabilizer / UV-absorber >> Benzotriazole Coatings >> Waterborne Coil Coating General Industrial /Maintenance Wood & Furniture Coatings *HQHUDO TINUVIN 928 is a new UV absorber of the hydroxyphenyl benzotriazole class developed specially for high performance coating applications. The characteristic broad band absorption of TINUVIN 928 provides efficient protection to coatings and light sensitive substrates. The product has excellent solubility and high thermal and environmental permanence, which makes it particularly suitable for coatings exposed to high temperature curing processes, such as powder and coil coatings, or high environmental stress. $SSOLFDWLRQV TINUVIN 928 is recommended for applications such as: · automotive coatings · powder and coil coatings TINUVIN 928 may be used in combination with a light stabilizer of the sterically hindered amine class (HALS) such as recommended below. Combinations provide best protection against gloss reduction, cracking, blistering, delamination and color change. The light stabilizers may be added in clear coats, base coats or solid shades. However, according to our experience the optimum protection is achieved by adding the light stabilizers to the topcoat. The amount of TINUVIN 928 required for optimum performance should be determined in trials covering a concentration range. UV absorber of the hydroxyphenylbenzotriazole class developed specifically for coating. Its very high thermal stability and environmental permanence makes it suitable for coatings exposed to high bake cycles and/or extreme environmental conditions. It has been designed to fulfill the high cost/performance and durability requirements of trade sales and industrial coatings. Its broad UV absorption allows efficient protection of light sensitive substrates such as wood and plastics. Miscible to more than 30% with most commonly used paint solvents. Water solubility is less than 0.1%. Recommended for trade sales paints, especially wood stains and clear varnishes, general industrial applications, high-bake industrial systems (e.g. coil coatings). Provides easy incorporation into waterborne systems and may be facilitated by dilution with water miscible cosolvents such as butyldiglycol. Enhanced when used in combination with a HALS stabiliser. These combinations improve the durability of coatings by inhibiting or retarding the occurrence of failures such as gloss reduction, cracking, chalking, color change, blistering and delamination. Recommended usage level: 1-3% based on weight percent binder solids (+0.5-2% HALS) for clear coatings and varnishes and for pigmented coatings.
