Processed utilizing a proprietary system, Suspengel products are easy to disperse thixotropic thickeners with excellent suspension properties. Strict process control assures our customers of the most consistent products on the market. Suspengel is an easily dispersed rheological additive for water-based systems. Suspengel in Latex Paints: is an ideal rheology modifier for interior and exterior PVA and acrylic latex flat and high sheen paints. The combination of Suspengel with hydroxyl ethylcellulose or carboxyl methylcellulose, will improve settling and flow properties, without affecting Sag when applied with a brush, roller or spray. Suspengel can be used to replace Attapulgite at lower levels to achieve the same viscosity and performance. Although Suspengel is not as bright in color, when used at a rate of less than 1%, there is no effect on the color of the paint. Suspengel has also been reported to improve pigment spacing of titanium dioxide, allowing for a reduction in the usage of expensive pigments and lowering overall paint costs. Paint Formulations: in a typical formulation incorporating HEC/CMC, it is recommended that up to 40% of the polymer be replaced by Suspengel. Examples of starting formulations are given on the following pages. Suspengel 200 Plus is similar to Suspengel 200, but a small amount of an additive is present; allowing the “Plus” version to wet out faster. This is of particular advantage in the formulation of wettable powders and in coatings and sealants supplied in dry form. Thixotropic sodium bentonite clay. Used as an easily dispersed rheological additive for interior and exterior PVA and acrylic latex flat and high sheen paints. Can be used in combination with hydroxyl ethylcellulose or carboxyl methylcellulose to improve settling and flow properties. Improves pigment spacing of titanium dioxide. Provides fast wet-out.
