DEHYDRAN 240 is used as a foam-inhibiting wetting agent in the manufacture of emulsion paints and other polymer emulsions. It can also be used as a defoamer in printing pastes (for textile printing) and in glues applied in printing plants. Furthermore, DEHYDRAN 240 may also serve as an ingredient in the manufacture of anti-foaming agents for numerous fields of application. DEHYDRAN 240 can be used in conjunction with Dehydran C, F, G or appropriate other defoamers. It is particularly effective in emulsion paints containing finely dispersed acrylic or polyvinyl acetate homopolymers or copolymers as binding agents. When manufacturing emulsion paints it is advisable to add DEHYDRAN 240 to the pigment paste together with Dehydran C, F, G or appropriate other defoamers. An addition to the unpigmented polymer emulsion is also possible. DEHYDRAN 240 can be used undiluted. With water instable emulsions can be achieved. DEHYDRAN 240 is insensitive to acids and lyes. The amount required depends on the intended application and must be determined in each case by appropriate tests. In emulsion paints it is generally between 0.5 and 2.5%, calculated on the total formula. Modified polyalkylene glycol.
