This combination of low volatility and high stability imparts a very high degree of CYASORB UV-1164L light stabilizer permanence in coatings. As a result, it is particularly suited for the stabilization of coatings which are cured at elevated temperatures and which require a high, constant level of UV absorption over time for protection. CYASORB UV-1164L light stabilizer is effective in stabilizing a variety of coatings, including thermoset acrylics, polyesters, polyurethanes and alkyds, and does not interact with metal curing catalysts. To obtain optimum protection against degradation CYASORB UV-1164L light stabilizer may be advanta-geously combined with hindered amine light stabilizers (e.g. Sanduvor ® 3055 or Sanduvor 3058, products of Clariant Corporation). The chemical structures for these Clariant products are shown on the reverse side. Typical applications include automotive, coil, extrusion, general industrial, plastic, and wood coatings. High inherent light stability Low volatility High permanence Strong UV-B absorber Exhibits synergy when used in combination with HALS, e.g. Sanduvor 3055 and Sanduvor 3058 Good solubility and compatibility with high solids coatings formulations Has good compatibility with water-borne coatings, especially when added to the resin before dispersion in water Does not interact with organometallic catalysts to form brightly colored complexes as benzotriazoles do Acrylic melamines, 1k and 2k acrylic and polyester urethanes, silane-modified acrylics, epoxy acids Coil coatings Pigmented base coats and mono-coats Clear coats at lower loadings High solids coatings Water-borne coatings Triazine in xylene. Used as a broad-band UV absorber for water borne and high solids coatings including thermoset acrylics, polyesters, polyurethanes and alkyds, acrylic melamines, 1k and 2k acrylic, polyester urethanes, silane-modified acrylics and epoxy acids. Offers good solubility, low color, low volatility and very high inherent thermal and light stability, high permanence and strong UV-B absorption. Suits for coatings cured at elevated temperatures. Does not interact with metal curing catalysts. Can be used in combination with hindered amine light stabilizers. <br> Applications: automotive, coil, extrusion, general industrial, plastic, wood coatings, pigmented base coats and mono-coats, and clear coats at lower loadings.
