CYMEL 1116 can also be used in the preparation of a wide range of general purpose industrial finishes. It is a very efficient crosslink-ing agent for polymers containing carboxyl hydroxyl, or amide groups such as epoxy alkyd or acrylic resins. Excellent Deposition Properties Improved Salt-Spray Resistance Improved Detergent Resistance Excellent Stability Electrocoating Finishes Metal Deco Finishes High Solids Coatings Inks CYMEL 1116 resin is well-suited for use in emulsion based coatings and adhesive systems. Because of its hydrophobic-hydrophilic balance, CYMEL 1116 will be primarily dissolved in the organic phase of the emulsion. Therefore, on application to porous substrates like wood or paper, the crosslinking agent will remain on the sur-face rather than diffusing in with the water phase. This results in high crosslinking efficiency. CYMEL 1116 crosslinking agent can be easily incorpo-rated into electrocoating paints by adding it directly to the concentrated vehicle, prior to dilution with water. Electrocoated films crosslinked with CYMEL 1116 crosslinking agent have a far superior combination of salt and detergent resistance compared to self-crosslinked systems. In general, about 80 to 100% of the CYMEL 1116 agent present in the electrocoating bath deposits at the electrode. This effect has been observed with various maleinized oil, acrylic, polyester, alkyd and epoxy ester electrocoating vehicles. CYMEL 1116 may be used with saturated vehicles, for preparation of high quality white electrocoating paints. Highly alkylated, monomeric, ethoxy methoxy melamine-formaldehyde resin. Used as a crosslinking agent for polymers containing carboxyl hydroxyl, or amide groups such as epoxy alkyd or acrylic resins electrocoating finishes, metal deco finishes, high solids coatings and inks. Used in electro-coating paints. Provides very good deposition properties, improved salt-spray resistance, improved detergent resistance and very good stability. Offers hydrophobic-hydrophilic balance and high crosslinking efficiency.
