Excellent Deposition Properties Good Salt-Spray Resistance Water-lnsoluble, Therefore, Good in Ultrafiltration Process Free of Methanol High Solids Electrocoating Finishes Coil-Coating Finishes Metal Deco Finishes Interior Can Coatings High Solids Coatings CYMEL 1156 resin is a versatile crosslinking agent for a wide range of polymeric materials, both water-borne and organo-soluble, containing carboxyl, hydroxyl or amide groups such as epoxy resins, alkyd and polyester resins, acrylic and vinyl polymers and cellulosics. CYMEL 1156 resin is ideal for use in emulsion based coatings and adhesive systems. Because of its hydrophobic-hydrophilic balance, CYMEL 1156 resin will be primarily dissolved in the organic phase of the emul-sion. Therefore, on application to porous substrates like wood and paper, the crosslinking agent will remain on the surface rather than diffusing in with the water phase. This results in high crosslinking efficiency. Because of its poor water-solubility, CYMEL 1156 resin is difficult to extract with water from cured films. This property makes CYMEL 1156 useful as a crosslinking agent for interior can coatings. In general, 100% of the CYMEL 1156 resin present in an electrocoating bath deposits at the anode. This effect has been observed with various maleinized oil, acrylic, polyester, alkyd and epoxy ester electrocoating vehicles. CYMEL 1156 resin may be used with saturated vehicles for the preparation of high quality white electrocoating paints. CYMEL 1156 resin can be easily incorporated into electrocoating paints by adding it directly to the concen-trated vehicle, prior to dilution with water. Static bath stability (at 25°C ) of electrocoating paints containing CYMEL 1156 resin is very good and has demonstrated excellent stability in actual electrocoating practice. Methanol-free, high solids, highly butylated, monomeric, melamine-formaldehyde resin. Used as a versatile crosslinking agent in electrocoating, water-reducible , coil-coating and metal deco finishes, and interior can and high solids coatings. Provides very good deposition properties and good salt-spray resistance. Offers hydrophobic-hydrophilic balance and high crosslinking efficiency
