CYMEL 1158 resin is reactive with hydroxyl, car-boxyl and amide functional groups and has excellent cure response under mild acidic conditions. CYMEL 1158 resin is compatible with the most anionic water-reducible resins; however, its low water tolerance will limit its usefulness in most water-reducible systems. CYMEL 1158 resin requires weak acid catalysis. For normal baking schedules of 20 minutes at 250°F (121°C) or higher, an acid catalyst is usually not required. On lower temperatures or shorter time schedules, small additions of CYCAT ®3 296-9 catalyst will be found help-ful to accelerate the cure.
