Cymel 300 Hexamethoxymethylmelamine Cytec Crosslinking / Coupling / Curing Agents >> Amine Acrylic/Acrylate Resins Alkyd Resins Amino Resins Cellulosic Resins Epoxy Resins Polyester Vinyl Coatings >> Solvent-Free/ High-Solids Coatings >> Waterborne Isobutanol CYMEL 300 and 301 crosslinking agents are commercial grades of hexamethoxymethylmelamine supplied at 100% non-volatile. CYMEL 300 crosslinking agent is the most highly alkylated grade and is a waxy solid. CYMEL 301 crosslinking agent is a liquid with a slightly lower degree of alkylation. Both resins are versatile crosslinking agents for a wide range of polymeric materials, both water-borne and organo-soluble, containing carboxyl, hydroxyl or amide groups, such as epoxy resins, alkyd and polyester resins, certain types of acrylic and vinyl polymers and cellulosics such as nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose or amide groups, such as epoxy resins, alkyd and polyester resins, certain types of acrylic and vinyl polymers, and cellulosics such as nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose and carboxylated cellulose derivatives. ADVANTAGES Solvent-free Wide compatibility Wide solubility Excellent stability Excellent hardness/flexibility Fast catalyzed cure response APPLICATION AREAS Water-borne systems Paper coatings High solids finishes Container and metal deco finishes FDA STATUS CYMEL 300 and CYMEL 301 crosslinking agents are approved as a component of resinuous and polymeric coatings according to the provisions of Sections 175.300, 175.320 and 176.170 of the regulations to the Food Additives Amendment of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. CHEMISTRY AND APPLICATION AREAS CYMEL 300 and CYMEL 301 crosslinking agents are very similar to CYMEL 303 crosslinking agent in chemistry and application characteristics. The following table provides typical comparisons of CYMEL 300, CYMEL 301 and CYMEL 303 crosslinking agents. Versatile crosslinking agents for a wide range of polymeric materials, both water-borne and organo-soluble, containing carboxyl, hydroxyl or amide groups, such as epoxy resins, alkyd and polyester resins, certain types of acrylic and vinyl polymers and cellulosics such as nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose or amide groups, such as epoxy resins, alkyd and polyester resins, certain types of acrylic and vinyl polymers, and cellulosics such as nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose and carboxylated cellulose. Solvent-free. Provides wide compatibility, wide solubility, excellent stability, excellent hardness/flexibility, fast catalyzed cure response. Can be used for water-borne systems, high solids finishes, container and metal deco finishes.
