D.E.H 84 Phenolic Dow Chemical Crosslinking / Coupling / Curing Agents Epoxy Resins Coatings >> Powder Coatings Powder coating >> Architectural / Decorative Powder coating >> General industrial D.E.H.* 84 phenolic hardener is a solid reaction product of liquid epoxy resin and bisphenol-A containing a curing accelerator. D.E.H. 84 phenolic hardener is designed for powder coating applications. It is fully compatible with epoxy resins and it can be formulated into decorative or protective coatings. When formulated into white or pastel shades, D.E.H. 84 phenolic hardener based formulations may exhibit a tendency towards yellowing when subjected to high baking temperatures or to over-bake. The medium reactivity of D.E.H. 84 phenolic hardener can be reduced by substituting part of the hardener with D.E.H. 85 phenolic hardener which contains no curing accelerator. The accelerator present in D.E.H. 84 phenolic hardener tends to promote a catalytic crosslinking of the epoxy resin during baking. For this reason, it is suggested that a 5 to 10 % molar excess of epoxy over the hardener be used when formulating with D.E.H. 84 phenolic hardener in order to produce cured coatings with optimum properties. Phenolic hardener (solid reaction product of liquid epoxy resin and bisphenol-A containing a curing accelerator). Used for powder coating applications. Offers compatibility with epoxy resins. Suits for decorative or protective coatings.
