D.E.N. 439-EK85 epoxy novolac resin is a general purpose, widely used epoxy novolac resin. It is recognized as a standard for high temperature applications from which variations have been developed. D.E.N. 439- EK85 has multi-epoxy functionality (±3.8). These additional reactive sites produce tightly cross-linked cured systems. D.E.N. 439-EK85 epoxy novolac resin solution is used alone or in combination with bisphenol-A based epoxy resins in solution formulations where ease of mixing and processing are required. The thermal stability epoxy novolac resins offer is a widely accepted asset in pre-preg manufacture for electrical laminates where they improve the resistance to hot solder as well as elevated temperature service. They are also used in coating applications where an increased corrosion/ chemical resistance is desired. Coil Coatings Marine & Protective Coatings Standard semi-solid reaction product of epichlorohydrin and phenol-formaldehyde novolac in methyl ethyl ketone. Used for high temperature applications such as coil, marine and protective coatings. Produces tightly crosslinked cured systems. Can be used alone or in combination with bisphenol-A based epoxy resins. Offers ease of mixing and processing, thermal stability and increased corrosion and chemical resistance.
