Engelhard-BASF Lumina colors are mica-based effect pigments that create intriguing and dramatic visual effects in a wide variety of applications. They are available in gold, red, green, aqua-blue, red-blue and a brand new unique turquoise color and feature increased chromaticity at the reflection angle and higher color purity and clarity than traditional interference colors. The result is cleaner shades, more saturated colors and stronger flip-flop effects in coatings, plastics and inks. For example, in solvent and water-borne coating applications, Lumina colors' enhanced reflection creates the look of a three-coat effect in only two coats. Lumina colors enhance labels for luxury packaging and other luxury products. And in plastics applications, including injection molding, blow molding and extrusion processing, Lumina colors create multi-optical effects when combined with other effect or color pigments. New Lumina Brass pigment is a mica-based, non-metallic effect pigment that brings a luxurious, metallic gold effect to plastics, coatings and inks. It is the newest and first metallic-looking pigment in the Lumina family of colors. It is compatible with all types of coating processes; it processes easily in injection molding, blow molding and extrusion processing; and it can be used in inks for gravure, flexo and screen printing processes. Lumina colors for exterior use are engineered using Engelhard-BASF's proprietary CFS chrome-free surface treatment to improve humidity and adhesion resistance in water-brone coatings and chip resistance in solvent-borne coatings. This makes it ideal for automotive coating applications and other outdoor uses, such as on lawn and garden furniture and outdoor appliances.
