Jeffamine T-403 Polyoxypropylenetriamine 39423-51-3 Huntsman Crosslinking / Coupling / Curing Agents >> Amine Epoxy Resins Miscible in water Miscible in a wide variety of solvents JEFFAMINE T-403 polyoxypropylenetriamine is one member of a family of Huntsman Corporation’s polyamines having as their backbones repeated oxypropylene units. As shown by the above structure, JEFFAMINE T-403 is a trifunctional primary amine having an average molecular weight of approximately 440. Its amine groups are located on secondary carbon atoms at the ends of aliphatic polyether chains. JEFFAMINE T-403 is light in color, low in viscosity and vapor pressure, high in primary amine content, and completely miscible in a wide variety of solvents, including water. JEFFAMINE T-403 polyoxypropylenetriamine undergoes reactions typical of primary amines. JEFFAMINE T-403 is closely akin to another JEFFAMINE product, JEFFAMINE D-230, and finds use in similar applications. Thus, JEFFAMINE T-403 is used primarily in epoxies, where it has certain advantages over its sister product. Coatings made from JEFFAMINE T-403, for example, will have somewhat better chemical resistance and color than those made from JEFFAMINE D-230. “B-staging,” a common problem with many epoxy curatives, is minimized by the use of JEFFAMINE T-403. That is, ultimate properties are more closely approached with room-temperature cures when JEFFAMINE T-403 is the curing agent. JEFFAMINE T-403 has found a special niche in the area of reinforced composites. Where the ultimate in strength and flexibility is needed, this amine curing agent should be considered. Example: Wind powered generators constructed by filament-winding techniques. JEFFAMINE T-403 has been used in oil recovery, as a viscosity enhancer for urethane caulks and sealants, and as an extender-crosslinker in polyurethane reaction injection molding (RIM). Low vapor perssure polyethermamine. Used as an epoxy curing agent in coatings. Provides ultimate strength and flexibility. Improves chemical resistance and color.
