DBE 4 Dibasic Ester Invista Polyurethane (PU) - Polyols Coatings Inks INKS Architectural / Decorative Can Coating Coil Coating General Industrial /Maintenance INVISTA DBE™ - Dibasic Esters are clear, colorless liquids produced from the dibasic acids-adipic, glutaric and succinic-which are all naturally occurring materials. All the DBE™ components (dimethyl succinate, dimethyl glutarate and dimethyl adipate) are readily biodegradable. DBE™ - Dibasic Esters can function as solvents as well as chemical intermediates in the following applications: It is used in paints and coatings, plasticizers, cleaning (industrial, institutional and consumer), polyols, pigments, paint stripping, wet-strength paper resins, foundry chemicals, soil stabilization or chemical grouting, recycling solvent, dilfield chemicals, crop protection and adhesives. The primary refined ester product is designated DBE. It is fractionated into six other products: DBE-2, DBE-3, and DBE-9 are mixtures of two dimethyl ester components. DBE-4, DBE-5 and DBE-6 are refined dimethyl esters (succinate, glutarate and adipate, respectively). DBE is a safe, environmentally friendly product which offers a unique combination of properties. DBE-IB is the diisobutyl version of DBE. INVISTA Dibasic Ester (DBE) is a high-boiling, oxygenated solvent that provides a wide range of flexibility in coatings formulations. Its miscibility with most organic solvents and excellent solvency for a wide range of resins makes it ideal for coatings applications. DBE has been used successfully in coatings applications with alkyd, acrylic, polyester, vinyl copolymer and other resins. DBE offers good flow and levelling characteristics to coatings compositions. In coil coatings applications, DBE has been demonstrated to reduce solvent popping, reduce orange peel, improve gloss, and provide better pigment hiding. Formulators can expect a 3% to 5% increase in actual hiding performance when using DBE. Evaporation rates can be modified by blending with other solvents or diluents if needed. It possesses excellent solvency, high boiling point (low vapor pressure), slow evaporation, high flashpoint, low miscibility with water, high miscibility with most organic solvents and readily Biodegradable. DBE is used extensively in coating applications. Coating applications include coil coating, can coating, industrial coatings, decorative or architectural coatings, and inks. DBE has a combination of high solvency and slow evaporation enabling it to perform well as a "tails solvent" in coating formulations. As a tails solvent, it is the last solvent to leave the system, providing desirable final coatings properties and leaving a high-gloss finish. Dibasic ester. Used in coil, can, industrial, decorative or architectural coatings and inks. Offers good flow and levelling characteristics. Provides improved gloss and better pigment hiding.
