IMCD to Promote Zeeospheres' Coatings & Paints Products in Asia After Successful European Stint
- Jun 21, 2012
SINGAPORE -- IMCD Benelux, a leading global distributor of speciality chemicals and foods, has won a top award for outstanding sales growth for the second year in a row. The yearly award, given out by US-based Zeeospheres Ceramics LLC recognizes the IMCD Group's efforts in promoting Zeeospheres' products in Europe as well as expand the Asian market for it.
IMCD's win caps phenomenal sales growth for Zeeospheres' products in Europe, with double-digit growth year-on-year against 2010. IMCD had record sales for Zeeospheres items in 2009, too.
Zeeospheres, a spin-off from Post-it pioneer 3M, did not have a customer base in Europe and was not familiar enough with the market's potential when it took over 3M's commercial activities in Europe. So it was paramount that it partner a distributor that was experienced and reliable on the continent. Worldwide, IMCD has a strong reputation as a valued supplier to the industrial coatings and building and construction markets. Its product offering, actively promoted by IMCD's dedicated team of technical sales executives, is further strengthened by Zeeospheres' product package.
"You and your team have exceeded our expectations," says Hugh F. Caffery, Zeeospheres' General Manager, in his address to Mark Vring, IMCD's Strategic Account Manager for Zeeospheres. "IMCD has developed sales for our products faster than we had thought. To produce these results it took your dedication and diligence to communicate the value of our products to the customers," concludes Caffery.
Thanks to such runaway success, Zeeospheres has now extended its exclusive distributorship contract with IMCD to Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia/New Zealand. "We have actively searched for new applications in the market and have thus brought new clients to Zeeospheres," says Dennis Kuipers, Zeeospheres International Product Manager. "Zeeospheres' products are highly specialised in nature and require in-depth technical knowledge of the chemistry and applications behind the products; this is exactly where IMCD could bring value to us."
To sharpen its service to clients even more, IMCD has been sending its Asia-Pacific staff for lots of technical training, which is crucial as IMCD will be representing an entirely new Zeeospheres product in this region. It is necessary for them to know the new product's specific properties, such as hardness, exceptional crush strength, resistance to scratches and cost benefits. The product is used in industrial paints, epoxy floorings, powder coatings, polymer concrete and architectural paint, among many other uses. Those who buy Zeeospheres' new offerings can expect these to improve the mechanical properties of their existing products as well as aid the development of new coating systems. Best of all, the new products will help manufacturers cut costs.
Zeeospheres' new product are ceramic microspheres which are very fine yet very strong, hard and inert and are commonly used as spherical filler in such compounded polymeric materials as: industrial paints and coatings, powder coatings, primers, corrosion-resistant coatings, darker architectural coatings, polymeric grouts, putties, adhesives, trowel-applied flooring, and other construction compounds and other thermoset compounds and thermoplastics.
Besides the new Asia-Pacific market, IMCD also represents Zeeospheres in Europe, Russia, Turkey and South Africa.
