Jaboatão -- Inaugurated in November 1979, the
paint plant in Jaboatão dos Guararapes in Pernambuco, Brazil, now
completed its 25th year of presence in the Northeast of Brazil. The facility
today produces water-based decorative paints, with Suvinil, the Brazilian
market leader, as its top brand. The plant today has become BASF's main
base of logistics for the Northeast and the North regions of Brazil.
In order to commemorate this date an Open Doors event
with was held. Rui Goerck, head of BASF's Regional Business Unit Coatings
and Decorative Paint Solutions South America, welcomed more than 450 people
who have played a part in the history of the plant and it success: employees,
members of their families, authorities, journalists, local community members
and suppliers.
Such an event is held every two years in every BASF facility
in Brazil. The main objectives are to foster greater integration with
the company's partners and to reinforce the concept that BASF is a company
that is open and transparent with the different publics with which it
interacts.
The theme of the event was "A trip around the magic
world of colors". After visiting the plant facilities, visitors had
the option of a series of leisure and integration activities, including
the presentation of the project for the Reform of the Guararapes National
Historical Park, which is the birthplace of the Brazilian nation. The
park is a present from BASF to the municipality and to Brazil for its
25 years in the region.
