    Specialty chemicals group LANXESS is now offering Bayferrox 912 LOM, the yellow iron oxide pigment manufactured at its site in Porto Feliz, Brazil, for sale worldwide. The pigment was launched on the North and South American markets years ago and thanks to its special product properties has proven effective in paints and coatings applications, primarily for the production of pigment pastes.

  • Researchers Develop a Coating for Biomedical Products that Kills Bacteria Without Antibiotics (May 16, 2012)
    The superbugs have met their match. Conceived at NTU, it comes in the form of a coating which has a magnetic-like feature that attracts bacteria and kills them without the need for antibiotics. The next step is to extend its use in a wide range of biomedical and consumer products, ranging from implants and surgical instruments to kitchen utensils and cutlery, as it is harmless to human cells.
  • Valspar Declares Q2 2012 Results; Reports a 36 Percent Rise in Profits (May 16, 2012)
    The Valspar Corporation reported its results for the second-quarter ended April 27, 2012. Second-quarter sales totaled USD 1.03 bn, a 4 percent rise from the second quarter of 2011. Second-quarter adjusted net income per share increased to USD 0.84 in 2012, a 31 percent increase from USD 0.64 in 2011. Second-quarter adjusted net income per share in 2012 excludes $0.04 per share in restructuring charges.

  • Bioformix Closed a USD 13.6 Mn Series A-1 Funding to Develop Biobased Raw Materials (May 15, 2012)
    Bioformix announced that it has closed a $13.6 Million Series A-1 round of funding. The new round was led by Braemar Energy Ventures and includes Arsenal Venture Partners, Mitsui Global Investment (MGI) and other strategic investors. Bioformix will use the funding to expand its operations, including R&D, production and commercial sales.
