AkzoNobel has opened a new center for research at its Sassenheim site in the Netherlands. Along with a research center in Slough in the UK and Singapore, the Dutch location is now one of the main research centers for AkzoNobel's Decorative Paints portfolio. The new facility in Sassenheim will focus on research into decorative paints, wood adhesives and pre-deco products, while Slough will concentrate more on wall paints.
By signing a new Memorandum of Understanding, the President of the State of São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), Celso Lafer, and Chairman of the Executive Board of the BE-Basic Foundation, Luuk van der Wielen, have extended the successful research collaboration between both parties. This new Memorandum of Understanding is active from 2013 to 2017. BE-Basic and FAPESP intend to provide USD2 to 3 million of joint funding per year for R&D projects.
