Waterborne Inks for Plastics: Formulation in Practice

The e-Training Course will help you fasten your conversion to waterborne inks for your plastic applications (LDPE, HDPE, OPP, PET and PVC).

Let Ton Hamer and his over 30 years industry experience guide you through the development of performant water-based printing inks by reviewing typical drawbacks, potential solutions as well as current limitations of this technology.

5 reasons to attend this online course:
Reason 1 Save time in switching to waterborne inks with practical guidance to overcome typical issues (drying, foaming, wetting, resolubility, etc.)

Reason 2 Increase your ability to get results quicker by learning how to adjust formulation and printing conditions

Reason 3 Don't waste your time and focus on applications where WB inks can perform as well as solvent-based inks

Reason 4 Make educated decisions with some inside on costs of potential solutions to improve water-based inks performances

Reason 5 Get advises to tackle your own issues by submitting your questions prior to the course or during the Q&A

COURSE TYPE: Advanced Formulation

Ideally suited for experienced ink formulators with a need to find new shortcuts to further reduce their development and troubleshooting time.

Prerequisite: Attendants should be moderately experienced in formulating liquid packaging inks (Gravure-Flexo).

WHAT YOU WILL TAKE AWAY FROM THIS COURSE:

The plastic packaging market is still dominated by solvent based inks. Conversion to water-based printing inks is a real challenge. This course will review common drawbacks and how to overcome them as well as impossibilities for some applications to help formulators in their conversion efforts.

Attendees will gain the needed knowledge to develop cost-effective water-based inks with:

  • Faster drying time
  • Improved substrate wetting
  • Reduced foam
  • Better resolubility and printability
  • ...

  • Early Registrants: Submit your specific needs when registering and let Ton Hamer help you uncover solutions.

The following sections will be covered during the session:

    1. Desired properties for plastics
    2. Typical drawbacks of WB-inks for applications on plastics
    3. Possible solutions
    4. Formulation guidelines
    5. Applications/Machinability
    6. Cost implications
    7. Conclusions

There will be a 30 min live question and answer session after the presentation, where you can ask our expert Ton Hamer about your specific issues. A transcript of this will be made available after the event.

Please also note that all participants will be emailed a copy of the presentation before the course.
