The following sections will be covered during this session:
- Limits of traditional R&D practices (trial-and-error, one-factor-at-the-time...)
- Different methods of design of experiments
- Setting-up simple experimental designs
- Analyzing results with simple calculations
- Determining the main effects, optimum condition and performance levels
- Standard steps in experimental planning
- Studying interactions
- Analysis of interactions and modification of the optimal conditions
- The Taguchi approach
- Retrieving information from earlier experiments
At the end of the training there will be a Q&A Session where you can pose questions to Rogier van Duin.
A transcript of all the questions and answers will be made available after the event.

Eliana L. ,
from Solvay Solexis:
"It provided us with a new approach to formulative work that can help us in improving the efficiency of experimental designs."
Adam C. ,
from Victrex:
"Excellent Course! Helped us to understand why design of experiments works and how the number of experiments can be reduced."
David L. ,
from AGC Chemicals Americas, Inc.:
"Presenter progressed from simple experimental design to more complex methods clearly. Received a better understanding for using fractional factorial designs to determine interactions."
DOE is probably one of the most widely recognized and least implemented of the experimental tools available to researchers and engineers, although it could help considerably speed-up time to market.
By attending this course, you will be able to
- Understand better the pros and cons of experimental designs
- Organize more effectively for your future developments
- Accelerate your learning curve on formulation or product in focus (ingredient interactions, critical factors, external conditions…), which in turns will make you save time on future similar R&D work
