Over the past few years, legislation has been pushing for the reduction of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) during the manufacture and application of industrial paints, in order to reduce the emissions of solvents which damage the environment.

Formulating higher-solid coatings or switching to waterborne systems are the two main options to meet these stringent environmental requirements.

To achieve environmentally friendly coatings, aliphatic polyisocyanates need to be low VOC and APEO-free (Alkyl-phenyl-ethoxylates).
