In traditional 2K solvent-based polyurethane formulations,
solvents are added to both parts to reach the desired viscosity for application,
and to obtain a simple mixing ratio between part A and B. This can vary from 2:1
to as high as 8:1 or more on a volume basis.
Adding organic co-solvents to waterborne polyisocyanates is usually not necessary.
However, the use of co-solvent can help incorporating the hardener into very low
viscous formulations, like clearcoats, and improve optical properties of the
film.
