Stronger Visual Impact
Are you interested in providing your partners with the deepest
black coatings? Cabot's product portfolio includes high color strength carbon black
pigments for water-borne or solvent-borne
systems. When properly formulated, these pigments give the highest level of black
color performance.
Black color is created when a coated surface absorbs light across the entire frequency
spectrum of visible light. Because no light is reflected, the coated surface appears
black. To increase the intensity of black color in a coating, the
coating formulator needs to increase the ability of the coating
to absorb visible light. This is accomplished by selecting a small
particle size black pigment and dispersing it throughout the coating
system. Small particle size pigments have high surface areas and
thus, absorb lots of visible light.
Cabot's Carbon Black portfolio includes pigments with the smallest
particle sizes available today. These small particle size pigments
can deliver the highest level of black color performance.

To optimize performance of these pigments, Cabot modifies the pigment surface to
enable pigment dispersion in the coating formulation. Different pigment treatment
technology enables solutions to be found for both water-borne and solvent-borne
systems.
