Structure
Black Micaceous Iron Oxide has lamellar shaped particles
Properties
It is inert and its capacity to absorb UV radiation also protects the polymers used
as binders. Like mica, micaceous iron oxide has a greyish appearance and a shiny
surface. It is essential not to over-disperse it because the platelets can be damaged
and rendered ineffective.
Uses
Its plate-like structure prevents the passage of oxygen and moisture. This property
allows it to be used in heavy-duty coatings to protect structural steelwork.
