Publication Gravure Inks
The
benefits of using polymeric dispersants in publication gravure inks are the following:
- Greater productivity
As higher pigment loadings can be accommodated into the millbase due to the effect
of polymeric dispersants, on millbase rheology, larger volumes of ink can be produced
per batch of millbase. This will usually result in lower fixed, labour and energy
costs.
- More highly pigmented inks
Higher pigment loadings in the final ink can be obtained without adversely affecting
flow. This is particularly advantageous when printing with modern shallow gravure
cells. Inks can be formulated to contain less solvent.
- Improvements in the tinctorial properties of the ink
Higher quality dispersions produce improvements in ink film properties such as gloss
and colour strength.
