Alkyd emulsion binders

Alkyd emulsion binders interact specifically in presence of fillers, pigments and various hydrophobically modified additives.

Their reactivity is generally stronger compared to current waterbased emulsion binders (such as acrylic, styrene acrylic, ethylene vinyl acetate) and therefore can lead to high low shear viscosities (Brookfield viscosities) which are generally not desired for high gloss systems.

High gloss level Top

Achieve high level of gloss with COADIS™ BR 85
Figure 1: Gloss retention: Gloss measured after 72 hours at 20° and 60°

As shown in the graph above, compared to other competitors, the extremely high level of gloss required for alkyd emulsion based formulations is achieved by using COADIS™ BR 85!
The offered solutions of COATEX provide also a gloss level similar to that of solvent-borne paints!

Alkyd Emulsion paints formulated with a combination of COADIS™ BR 85 and COAPUR™ XS 22 are more stable. In fact, viscosity drop is drastically limited and application properties are not damaged (Sag and leveling compromise is improved)

Compared to other competitive dispersing agents, superior in-can stability is achieved!

Thanks to its reduced ionic character, COADIS™ BR 85 allows a better dispersion and stabilization of various TiO2 grades for high gloss paints and calcium carbonates of finest grades as well.
