In addition to the need to reduce/eliminate solvent usage in their high performance VOC-free coatings, paint and coating formulators also need to meet demanding criteria for biodegradability, and ultimately, move toward renewably sourced materials.
Two new grades of DuPont™ Capstone® fluorosurfactants are now available to help formulators meet all of these requirements :
- Capstone® FS-64, a renewably sourced material that reaches low aqueous surface tension.
- Capstone® FS-65 meets the criteria to pass OECD 301B biodegradability status.
Capstone® FS-64 and FS-65 deliver better surface tension and enhanced leveling compared to other hydrocarbon surfactants.
Plus, Capstone® FS-65 provides good stability, surface tension reduction and low foaming even in aggressive media such as brines, acid and bases.
Applications that can benefit from Capstone® FS-64 and FS-65 include: architectural and decorative paints, coil coatings, industrial applications (ie acid baths), wood coatings, ink, floor care formulations, and etching applications.
Like other grades of DuPont™ Capstone® FS-64 and FS-65 are multifunctional which allows formulators to replace or even eliminate other additives in their formulations and still maintain the high performance of their coatings.
Capstone® FS-64 and FS-65 are VOC-free. Plus, with Capstone® FS-64, you can achieve better block resistance performance while using an eco-friendly fluorosurfactant (picture below).
