Products such as display panels and phones, as an example, face daily intensive hand use and various material stress through time. Consequently optical film manufacturers have to find coatings that allow long-term durability and high level finishes no matter the conditions.
In order to address those end-market prerequisites, coating formulators are challenged to supply coatings providing strong adhesion, multiple aggression type resistance, while highlighting the aesthetic of the end-use product.

XDI specialty isocyanate for optical film applications
With Takenate® XDI specialty isocyanate, coating formulators can successfully address these needs, even beyond expectations.
The graph below displays an overview of the top performances of polyurethane systems based on Takenate® XDI specialty isocyanate at different -NCO/-OH ratio.

The PU resins issued from Takenate® feature increased stain, chemical, scratch and mar resistance compared to conventional HDI-based resins.
The deep adhesion strength of this isocyanate makes its features compatible with optical films and also with several plastic and metal materials.
