The Challenge

The Solution

Based on 45 years' experience, Arkema has developed Kynar Aquatec^® latex, a platform of latex emulsions for waterborne coatings that allows formulators and end-users to achieve excellent weatherability and durability performance while being environmentally friendly. Excellent weatherability

In comparison to coatings formulated with other resins (pure Acrylic, Polyurethane, Polyester), the coatings containing Kynar Aquatec^® latex exhibit better resistance to outdoor exposure even after 7,5 years of Florida exposure.

Coatings formulated with Kynar Aquatec^® ARC latex can meet AAMA 2605 which is a high-performance exterior specification.

Outstanding color and gloss retention

Thanks to Kynar Aquatec^® latex, coatings applied on multiple substrates keep their color and gloss levels over time even when exposed to harsh conditions. The chalking, fading or discoloration is minimal when compared to paints made with other resin systems.

As shown below, blue coatings formulated with Kynar Aquatec^® latex and applied on fiber cement perform better over time in terms of color retention:

Good durability

Coatings formulated with Kynar Aquatec^® latex exhibit good chemical resistance, dirt pick-up resistance and very low film erosion.
This leads to low maintenance over time.

Environmentally friendly

Kynar Aquatec^® latex enables you to formulate low VOC water-based coatings.

In addition, as the coatings formulated with Kynar Aquatec^® latex are highly durable, end-users do not need to re-paint the surfaces for extended periods of time which is positive in an environmental point of view.

Finally, no detergent and thus chemical products are required to clean the surfaces as the coatings containing Kynar Aquatec^® latex exhibit high mildew resistance.
