DuPont™ TiO2 Center

Why use TiO2?

Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) is the most important and widely used white pigment in the coatings industry. DuPont™ TiO2 efficiently scatters visible light, thereby imparting whiteness, brightness and opacity.

DuPont™ TiO2 is used to opacify paint films by diffusely reflecting light. White pigment scatters or bends light strongly and causes this reflection. All visible light will strike the white pigment and be reflected, thus the film will appear opaque, white and bright.

Where can it go?

There are two primary types of TiO2 pigments: those with enamel grade performances below Critical Pigment Volume Concentration (CPVC), which corresponds to gloss and semi gloss coatings, and those improving spacing characteristics for above CPVC coatings applications (flat aspect).

A full range of TiO2 exists for architectural applications depending upon the need of the coating
