Flow & leveling
The leveling is the ability of the coating to achieve a uniform surface after application
on a substrate with no evidence of tool application marks.
Flow and leveling are therefore relevant to the quality of the final film. Insufficient
flow and leveling will lead to surface defects such as brush or roller marks thus
impacting optical properties of the dry coating film, particularly in the case of
low PVC formulations based coatings
(satin, gloss paints, varnish and lacquers).
The use of preferentially newtonian rheology modifiers helps improve flow and leveling
properties, unlike conventional HEC thickeners.
Coatex newtonian to balanced polyurethane thickeners from the Coapur™
range offer the optimized flow and leveling you need.
With conventional cellulosic thickener
With Coapur™ 2025
Compared to conventional cellulosic thickeners, these rheology modifiers ensure
an improved leveling and as well provide a better film build thanks to accurate control of the application viscosity.
